Brai Roofing

Brai 2-Ply and 3-Ply Roofing
The picture above shows the process of applying a torch-on modified bitumen system to a low slope roof.

Normally, a brai roofing system will be installed on a lower slope roofing structure. Another name for Brai is Modified Bitumen. Modified bitumen was developed by using asphalt roofing technology. Rubber modifiers and solvents are infused with the asphalt to make the rolls.

The top cap sheath is infused with different color granules to provide an array of colors to match the color scheme of your home..

There are three different types of application with Brai Roofing.
The torch-on method applied with heat, peel and stick method applied like a sticker, and mopping method applied by mopping the hot tar onto the surface of the roof.

Modified bitumen modifiers

All modified bitumens use asphalt as the waterproofing agent. The bitumens are modified using styrene butadiene styrene (SBS), atactic polypropylene (APP), or synthetic rubber mixed with the asphalt to create a superior asphalt substance.

The asphalt combined with thermoplastic polymer (APP) helps increase the UV resistance of the bitumen. The APP infused with the asphalt also increases the flexibility properties at low temperatures as well as higher temperatures.

APP modified bitumen uses a torch on process to melt the underside using heat from a propane torch. The melting modified asphalt bonds to the roof decking resulting in a water tight bond.

SBS modified bitumen creates a polymer with the asphalt and the bitumen. This gives the bitumen a rubber like compound characteristic. Applications of this type of bitumen are hot mopping using asphalt, torch heating, or cold adhesives.

brai 2-ply Roofing systems

Residential application is approached using a 2-ply roofing system. This entails a base sheath and finishing with a cap sheath with granules of different colors to choose from. This type of roofing has a 12 year warranty.

Brai 3 Ply Roofing Systems

Commercial and Industrial application is approached using a 3-ply roofing system. This process starts with a base sheath, another layer of base sheathing, and finishing with a cap sheath with granules of various colors of your choice. This type of roofing has a twenty year warranty.
